Apparently the US Census Bureau is circulating a poster for bloggers to place on their sites to advertise for people to complete the US census by mail, instead of forcing the government to waste resources by sending people door-to-door to collect the information.
As you may have noticed, this push for efficiency is in direct opposition to the populist cry for “jobs”. In fact, if the publicity measure is successful, it will allow the government to forgo a $1.5 billion dollar investment in the sort of inefficiency that is almost certain to create quite a bit of employment. Indeed, governments around the world heavily subsidize such inefficiency on a regular basis.
It is nice to see that at least one branch of government takes efficiency seriously enough to advertise their intentions! After all, high productivity is what makes us wealthy!
